Kevin Denmark – First Marathon, 4:35:55

I first started working with Kyle in mid-2022 when he got me to the starting line at my first Run Norwich in October, when I was forever injured. At that time I was only a social runner with no great aspirations, with 10k my confirmed maximum distance.

Having realised the benefits of a regular sports massage I kept seeing Kyle and never missed another starting line through injury, with his massage skills, advice and encouragement.

My first half marathon came and went in Great Yarmouth in 2023 and the ultimate happened in July 2024 when I was ‘encouraged’ into signing up for Paris by one of my running buddies. At that time, I never really seriously thought I would make the starting line but in November decided I needed to give this my best shot so having discussed it with Kyle signed up for 20 weeks of coaching and in reality, never looked back.

Kyle supported me all the way through the process with a runners MOT, setting realistic weekly running targets and regular reviews. We changed distances and speeds, all based on my 4:15 finishing goal and previous race results. Achieving my weekly targets kept me motivated through all those winter long runs. Yes, I went rouge occasionally but Kyle knew me well enough and expected that, but the penny dropped, and I tried where possible to stick to the plan and trust the process.

The marathon was far more challenging than I ever thought and took every amount of mental resilience I had to get to the finishing line. There is just no way I would have done that without Kyle’s incredible support. If you are thinking about doing the same then I cannot recommend Kyle highly enough.
